About the Role
This position is located within the Fort Thompson Service Unit, Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI), Fort Thompson, SD. The purpose of the position is to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate community based fitness and wellness programs designed to prevent and manage chronic diseases through structured exercise interventions, health promotion activities, and individualized fitness. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
What You'll Do
- →Plans, develops, coordinates, and administers a comprehensive community-based fitness and wellness program supporting diabetes prevention and management.
- →Develops individualized and group fitness plans consistent with cultural, social, and physiological requirements, accomplished through assessment of fitness level across primary and secondary populations.
- →Identifies trends, assesses program performance, and recommends improvements to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
- →Plans, coordinates, and participates in community outreach activities, including workshops, health fairs, youth camps, and wellness events, to promote program participation and community engagement.
Requirements

- ✓Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.

- ✓Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.
