About the Role
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FIREFIGHTER (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECH-BASIC LIFE SUPPORT), Position Description Number T6311000 and is part of the 174TH ATKW, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veterans' preference does not apply to this vacancy due to internal merit promotion. There are two positions available.
What You'll Do
- →As a FIREFIGHTER (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TECH-BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) (GS-0081-5/6/7), you will serve as a Firefighter (Hazardous Materials Technician-Basic Life Support) assigned to a crew engaged in airfield and structural firefighting and crash-rescue operations.
- →Drives and operates firefighting vehicles of significant complexity to respond to the presence or potential releases of hazardous materials (HAZMAT), for the purpose of stopping or controlling the release, and to conduct performance of non-invasive emergency medical procedures.
Requirements
- ✓If applying for the GS-05, Employee is required to be certified or obtain the certifications within 6 months of appointment by the DoD Firefighter Certification System as Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II), Hazmat Operations (includes Hazmat Awareness), Apparatus Driver Operator- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper.
- ✓If applying for the GS-06, Must provide proof of DoD Firefighter Certification System as Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II), Hazmat Operations (includes Hazmat Awareness), Apparatus Driver Operator- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper.
- ✓If applying for the GS-07, Must provide proof of DoD Firefighter Certification System as Airport Firefighter HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II), Apparatus Driver Operator- Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper.
- ✓You must provide Official Transcripts as documentation to support your educational claims.
- ✓To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
