THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FIREFIGHTER (CREW CHIEF-DRIVER OPERATOR) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number NGT6315000 and is part of the TN 134th ARW, Air National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 114 (Smoky Mountain Chapter).
What You'll Do
- →As a FIREFIGHTER, GS-0081-06, you will drive and operate firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) vehicles.
- →Performs and directs assigned crew in the performance of crash/rescue and firefighting duties at airfields handling large or complex aircraft (e.g. fighters, bombers, cargo, passenger).
- →Performs and leads assigned crew in structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities which may include research and/or large industrial complexes.
- →Performs and leads assigned crew in the rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepare the victim(s) for transport to a medical facility.
- →Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities.
- →Leads a crew of one or two firefighters, GS-04 or GS-05, assigned to man the major piece of motorized firefighting equipment in firefighting and rescue operations.
- →Performs other duties as assigned.
