About the Role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Firefighter (Basic Life Support). This position is included under the provisions of Special Retirement Coverage (SRC) and may have both a maximum entry age and a mandatory retirement date. What You'll Do
- →Respond on site to accidents and other emergencies involving injuries and illnesses.
- →Perform initial patient assessment and physical examinations.
- →Establish communications with the receiving facility.
- →Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls.
- →Combat fires and rescue personnel on ships and vessels.
- →Perform duties as a Hazardous Materials Technician.
- →Identify and classify unknown hazardous materials.
- →Perform vessel and structural inspections.
- →Inspect ammunition vessels for compliance with safety regulations.
- →Drive and operate fire trucks, emergency response vehicles and hazmat vehicles to site of fires, accidents and hazardous material emergencies.
