FINANCIAL MANAGER

About the Role
You will serve as a COMPTROLLER and Department Head in the Comptroller Department (Code 600) of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the chief financial advisor to the Shipyard Commander and senior leaders.
- →You will serve as the department head and supervise a diverse workforce across multiple divisions and grade levels.
- →You will analyze complex accounting and budget metrics to provide the forecasts, trends, and risk assessments that guide executive decisions.
- →You will direct the planning, formulation, and execution of the complex annual budget.
- →You will manage composite funding structures that combine Mission and cost-reimbursable funds.
- →You will ensure financial integrity, compliance, and solvency under federal fiscal laws within the financial management system.
- →You will oversee the command’s travel and property management systems.
- →You will develop, implement, and evaluate financial policies and standard operating procedures.
- →You will use these guidelines to manage risk and resource allocations across a complex shipyard environment.
- →You will direct personnel actions, including scheduling, training, discipline, labor relations, and strategic workforce planning.
Requirements
- ✓This position involves professional accounting responsibilities that require professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirements for the Accounting Series, GS-510: Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR; Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
