This position is in the Facility Management Service at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center (Station 553), Detroit, MI. The incumbent serves as the Facility Operations Specialist providing management of contracted services for Facility and Utility System repairs, testing, and maintenance. The incumbent also has full responsibility for planning, designing, specifying, and coordinating preventative maintenance activities using the Maximo Work Order System.
What You'll Do
- →Duties Forecast annual budgetary requirements to supervisor for contracted building maintenance and service work.
- →Oversees and manages contracted services, repair, testing, minor construction, and maintenance work that involves a wide range of technical input and administrative tasks.
- →Coordinate and integrate contractor work schedules and processes with Engineering Section supervisors, engineering workers and others.
- →Monitors and reports monthly, quarterly, and annually the engineering performance indicators and quality assurance program to the Health and Safety Leadership Committee.
- →Track progress and quality of performance and conduct any required inspections.
- →Decide on the acceptability, rejection, or correction of work products or services and similar matters that may affect payment to the contractor.
- →Issues request for off station vendor repairs in order to maintain equipment not repairable by station work force.
- →Plan and establish the work schedules, deadlines, and standards for acceptable work.
- →Incumbent will write service agreements and contract documents for vendors from mandated and regulated specialty work. responsible for scheduling inspections on all life safety equipment including but not limited to: rated partitions, egress lighting, smoke and fire doors, trash and linen chutes, grease hoods, stairwells and exit doors, fire extinguishers, fire dampers, and fire shutters.
- →Researches and develops required data and information for preparation of specifications from such sources as Federal and VA specifications, manufacturer's standard specifications, industry standards, etc.
