What You'll Do
- →Provides facility management leadership & direction for the park and serves as an effective member of the park leadership team.
- →Develops and coordinates plans and objectives to support mission requirements.
- →Uses and oversees use of NPS software systems for management of assets, project development and funding, and construction processes.
- →Develops budget, spending plan and work plans to implement maintenance work group priorities.
- →Develops and implements a comprehensive safety and training program to eliminate at risk behaviors and environments and enforce regulatory policies and mandates.
- →The Facilities Program Manager is responsible for leadership of the facilities management work group at Isle Royale National Park.
- →This position serves as the facility management expert and as an effective member of the park leadership team to develop and implement management strategies.
- →The incumbent is actively involved in decisions affecting overall park management, policy, and operations, and contributes to the development and implementation of park management documents.
- →Responsibilities include all phases of planning, both short and long range, for the future management, operation, development, and administration of the park's maintenance operation.
- →The incumbent assists with managing Facility Management Software System (FMSS) for cost effective management of assets.
- →They perform & maintain asset inventories and condition assessments for the purpose of developing deferred maintenance costs for annual and multi-year plans.
- →They are also responsible for a comprehensive safety and training program to eliminate at risk behaviors and environments and enforce regulatory policies and mandates.
- →The incumbent develops and manages the work group budget and projects utilizing NPS financial and project management programs, while ensuring the proper allocation and accountability for an annual budget of more than three million dollars.
- →The position oversees approximately 30 full time permanent and seasonal employees covering a broad range of priorities and disciplines (for example: trails, campgrounds, docks, housing inventory, fuel systems, vessel fleet, equipment fleet, and complex mainland/island logistics).
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
- ✓You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment.
- ✓In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use - drug testing requirement associated with Operation of a Small Water Craft.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓Occupancy of government quarters is required.
- ✓The employee will be required to reside in government assigned housing from April to October each year.
- ✓Rent will be automatically deducted from your pay on a pre-tax basis.
- ✓However, NO park housing is available when the island is closed during the off-season, November-March.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
