What You'll Do

  • The Executive Director is responsible for the full spectrum of acquisition planning, life cycle contract management, strategic sourcing, and supplier operations supporting global customer requirements across aviation, land, and maritime supply classes.
  • Key responsibilities include: Formulates and advises on long-term logistics and acquisition priorities, aligning Weapon Support acquisition objectives with DLA and Department of War (DoW) strategic guidance.
  • Controls acquisition operations across the integrated supply chains, ensuring execution integrity, standardization of contracting practices, and unity of effort across all subordinate contracting activities.
  • Serves as the senior acquisition executive for Weapon Support and is responsible to the Component Acquisition Executive for acquisition system oversight, compliance, and accountability.
  • Directs strategic planning, programming, budgeting, marketing, and performance execution of long-range acquisition capabilities to meet evolving mission requirements.
  • Designs and oversees major acquisition programs, operating plans, and policy frameworks to ensure integrated materiel management and responsive procurement support to operational customers.
  • Tracks and manages the Weapon Support acquisition workforce, ensuring readiness, credentialing, continuous improvement, and workforce shaping in support of mission requirements.
  • Conducts assessment of organizational structure, staffing, workload alignment, and resource requirements.
  • Recommends and directs actions to improve effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinates and monitors major, mission-critical acquisitions requiring extensive planning and cross-functional integration, including collaboration with DLA HQ, other MSCs, DoW components, and Military Services.
  • Leads development and execution of emergency acquisition support actions in accordance with DLA contingency, war, and surge requirements.
  • Directs implementation of new statutory or regulatory initiatives affecting contracting and supply chain operations; leads internal policy updates and stakeholder integration.
  • Ensures sound financial stewardship, internal controls, and safeguarding of government resources, funds, and materiel across the Weapon Support enterprise.
