About the Role

This vacancy is for a Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist in the Office of the Secretary within the Department of Commerce.

What You'll Do

  • As a Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist(Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator), you will perform the following duties: Processes Reasonable Accommodation (RA) requests.
  • Communicates policies, practices, and procedures regarding Reasonable Accommodation and the Rehab Act.
  • Provides advice and guidance on the Reasonable Accommodation request process and options available to management and requesters (employees).
  • Researches Equal Employment laws for managers and individuals seeking guidance; troubleshoots issues; makes recommendations on disability related matters.
  • Advises leadership on the broader disability program to include policies and procedures; serves as backup to the Disability Program Manager, as needed.
  • Utilizes an automated tracking/data system to input information and produce reports.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use of possession of drugs.
  • A probationary or trial period may be required.
