You will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator for the Western Montana NWR Complex. The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment to complete a variety of Service Projects at various locations.
What You'll Do
- →Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operate a variety of types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth Heavy equipment may include bulldozers, excavators, road graders, skid steers, backhoes, wheeled and tracked loaders, and specialized equipment.
- →Operates motor vehicles including: tractor trailers, truck and trailer combination, stake trucks, and dump trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds.
- →Performs maintenance on motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and small equipment.
- →Maintain, repair, or construct a variety of infrastructure including but not limited to: fences, water control structures, and buildings.
- →Work includes developing a course of action to manage and complete small to medium, land management and earth moving projects and facility maintenance.
- →Operators oversee job site safety and logistics.
- →Operators must remain constantly alert and operate the equipment and machinery safely and carefully to prevent injuries or damage to self, others, or the equipment.
- →Other Duties As Assigned - Assignments will be reasonably related to the employee's job description.
- →In an emergency situation, duties which might not reasonably be related to an employee's position might have to be assigned.
Requirements
- ✓Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

- ✓You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
