About the Role
You will serve as an Engineering Equipment Operator Supervisor Crater Lake National Park Maintenance Division in Crater Lake, OR. Please visit find a park for additional park information.
What You'll Do
- →At the full performance level (WS-10) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Supervises large snow removal operations, repair, maintenance and construction activities on park roads.
- →Supervises operation of all park road operations related to surfacing of bituminous roads (patching, resealing, overlays), re-grading, down trees, installation and maintenance of roadway gates, and repairing culverts and drainages.
- →Works closely with Federal Highways Administration (FHA) on the road construction and repair program.
- →Prepares specification, purchase documents, and all support planning required for operations.
- →Initiates and monitors Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), Interagency Agreements, Task Agreements, etc.
- →Supervises operations of the sign shop and oversees the Park's sign program.
- →Responsible for planning and prioritizing work tasks to ensure timely completion.
- →Supervises heavy equipment shop, ensuring equipment and vehicles are inspected, maintained and repaired properly.
- →Crater Lake is one of the snowiest inhabited places in the country, averaging more than 500 inches of snowfall each year.
- →Winter is long, with deep snow and excellent opportunities for snowshoeing and backcountry skiing.
- →Summers and falls are brief but spectacular, with mild temperatures and full access to the park's trails and viewpoints.
- →Chiloquin and Prospect, both within reasonable commuting distance of the park, offer basic services such as groceries, fuel, and small restaurants, with a slower-paced, tight-knit rural Oregon lifestyle.
- →Klamath Falls, about an hour southeast, is home to Oregon Institute of Technology, Sky Lakes Medical Center, a regional airport, and a full range of shopping, dining, and professional services.
- →Medford and the Rogue Valley, about 90 minutes west, offer Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, an international airport with direct West Coast flights, and a thriving arts and dining scene anchored by nearby Ashland and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Requirements
