You will serve as an ENGINEER in the Electrical, Electronic, and Cybersecurity Engineering and Resource Branch, Code 8322 of Combatant Craft Division, Naval Architecture and Engineering Department, at our Virginia Beach Office on Joint Expeditionary Base, Little Creek of NAVSRFWARCEN DET. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The full performance level of ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as the Senior Electrical Systems Technical Competency Manager and will be responsible for assisting with recruitment, workforce development, mentoring, training, and equipping efforts to sustain long-term branch technical health.
- →You will serve as the branch Subject Matter Expert, applying advanced scientific theories, codifying analytical approaches, validating tools, and spearheading the development, implementation, and active shepherding of standardized processes.
- →You will provide premier electrical and electronic engineering technical stewardship, assistance, and senior mentorship.
- →You will guide and evaluate engineering approaches, directing trade studies and risk assessments, and reviewing technical data packages to ensure the rigorous application of sound engineering principles.
- →You will leverage lifecycle engineering experience spanning research, design, acquisition, modernization, repair and overhaul to establish training priorities and posture the workforce to deliver high-quality marine electrical and electronic systems.
- →You will interface at senior levels across NAVSEA, DoD, industry, and academia to facilitate information exchange and foster collaboration aimed at advancing system effectiveness, safety, and reliability.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
