About the Role

You will serve as an ENGINEER in the SENSORS WEAPONS & LAUNCHERS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

What You'll Do

  • You will provide planning and technical project direction to branch personnel including daily management of branch projects, assignment of tasks, mentoring of team members, and provide technical leadership for multiple launching systems.
  • You will perform professional engineering work involving complex and integrated projects for all phases in the life cycle: design, development, modernization, sustainment, functionality, test, evaluation or integration of combat weapons systems.
  • You will ensure compliance to requirements from the branch level through department of Defense level requirements.
  • You will develop and maintain processes and procedures while ensuring proper level of compliance.
  • You will develop and implement technical engineering requirements as well as serve as steward of safety and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
