About the Role
The VA Fargo HCS is recruiting for (1) full-time Emergency Department Physician in Fargo, ND.
What You'll Do
- →The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers.

- →As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran.

- →Duties include: ED physicians provide backup to Inpatient Unit during emergencies or during unexpected absence of the hospital covering provider.
- →The ED physician may need to respond to codes or other emergencies within the facility, although the primary responsibility for this rests with the Hospitalist team.
- →Shifts times and staffing patterns are subject to change to ensure efficient use of medical center resources and appropriate levels of care are maintained.
- →Occasionally, if another ED physician is unexpectedly absent, other ED physicians will be contacted to provide backup coverage.
- →Evaluation, stabilization and movement to definitive care of acute medical, surgical, and trauma conditions that present to the ED.
- →Assessment and initiation of treatment of ongoing or chronic conditions that present to the ED while facilitating delivery of the patient to the appropriate level of follow up care.
- →Completion of patient care encounters using CPRS, the current VA electronic medical record (or any subsequently adopted EHR system).
- →Hospital policies regarding documentation are described separately.
- →All outgoing EM providers will provide a verbal, bedside sign-out, to the incoming EM provider.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
