This position is located at the Veteran Health Administration South Central VA Healthcare Network (VISN 16) Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in the Engineering Service. The Electronics Technician will serve as the senior level electronics technician and member of the patient care team, responsible for the technical management of highly sophisticated electronic systems including, but not limited to audio/visual, surveillance, security, nurse call, access control etc.
What You'll Do
- →Serves as consultant and advisor on construction projects involving analog and digital electronics technology, providing expertise for installation of highly complex and sophisticated electronics equipment and systems.
- →Oversees overall implementation and management of electronics technology in his/her assigned areas.
- →Provides technical support for a wide variety of highly sophisticated and complex electronics equipment and systems including advanced analog, digital, microprocessor and computer based electronics with many interrelated sub-assemblies, system servers and sophisticated digital equipment connected to the Medical Center IT network and other systems.
- →Establishes appropriate maintenance strategies and performs preventive maintenance on equipment following manufacturer's recommendations and based on experience with equipment.
- →Ensures warranties and service contracts are honored and all documentation is available.
- →The incumbent analyzes maintenance trends, operating environment and equipment history to recommend/develop optimal maintenance strategies for complex electronics systems.
- →Analyzes and evaluates equipment problems, determining whether the problem is caused by use error, hardware or software component failure, physical damage, environmental factors, and connectivity/compatibility or communication/networking issues.
- →Investigates, troubleshoots and diagnoses the root cause, often through consultation with clinical staff, IT staff, and/or equipment manufacturers, and use of past experience and other resources.
- →Ensures that electronics equipment continuously meets TJC, VA, CAP, radiation, and other standards for patient and user safety and standards of care.
- →Responsible for establishing a stock level of repair parts and supplies and ensuring the availability of items needed for the daily tasks associated with the equipment within the assigned areas of responsibility.
- →Serve as a purchase card holder.
- →Responsible for creating and maintaining documented equipment histories to provide information about maintenance, repair, adjustments, changes, upgrades, recalls and use error.
- →Uses business and technical writing skills to clearly and accurately communicate matters of importance.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, Subject to change based on the needs of the Facility.
