About the Role

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a Shipboard Satellite Communications (SATCOM) ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN for Code 292 in the ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPARTMENT Code 200 of NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY.

What You'll Do

  • You will provide technical and engineering support as SME to SRF and JRMC production shops, ships assigned to the Forward Deployed Naval Forces and units operating in the 7th Fleet for Shipboard Satellite Communications (SATCOM) NMT, CBSP equipment.
  • You will brief senior leadership and provide guidance on casualty resolution affecting FDNF operations for for Shipboard Satellite Communications (SATCOM) NMT, CBSP and associated equipment .
  • You will provide immediate authoritative technical assistance/training to ship's force personnel on urgent mission degrading casualties (CASREPS) or similar problems affecting the overall operability of Naval shipboard SATCOM NMT, CBSP and equipment.
  • You will be familiar with generating and reviewing Technical Assist Visit Reports (TAVR) and operating the NAVSEA Fleet Technical Support (FTS) Database.
  • You will provide technical oversight, management and direction to a highly diversified workforce.
  • You will participate in scheduled shipboard assessment events such as C5RA, INSURV, TSRA and other assigned readiness assessments.

Requirements

  • Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position.
  • Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
  • Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date.
  • However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location.
  • Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference.
  • Military spouses and family members who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member.
