About the Role

This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Systems and Communications Testing (TETD), Commissioning and Testing, (TET), Engineering and Technical Services (TE), Transmission (T), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). A successful candidate in the Electronics Technician position will serve as one of the Engineering Technician Leads providing electronic testing guidance in a wide range of assignments for internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • As a Electronics Technician, you will: Act as an authoritative source of technical expertise in the commissioning and integration of substations and communications systems during the construction process.
  • Independently create, develop, review, and evaluate engineering requirements documents for unusual, especially difficult, or complex projects for compatibility, conformance to project requirements, good engineering practices and standards.
  • Commissioning testing of Fiber Optic Communications systems; Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment , switchyard alarm supervision and telemetering; Sequential Event Recorders (SER) for time tagging of substation events.
  • Maintain a thorough familiarity with industry, organizational and BPA standards; recommends new concepts, techniques and methods for BPA management consideration.
  • Develop and reviews electric power distribution and utilization systems designs and specifications.
  • Provide engineering technical support, e.g., hardware drawings and wiring diagrams, to engineers, and other professional and technical staff associated with control center and substation design.
