About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0872P01 and is part of the MD AASF, National Guard. This position is open to On-Board Federal Employees of the Maryland National Guard only. Applicants must submit current copies of their SF-50 to verify eligibility.

What You'll Do

  • This purpose of this position is to perform work involved in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining the complete electronic integrated systems on Army National Guard helicopters.
  • This position is responsible for the following duties: Performs operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems.
  • Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units (LRU).
  • Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment.
  • Solves problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems.
  • Adjusts and aligns sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, actuators, servos, computers and other related components.
  • Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.
  • Conducts debriefing of aircrews to determine the nature of system malfunctions, then documents all maintenance performed and records information related to the system, LRU's, or shop repairable units on both aircraft and historical records.
  • When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties.
  • Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary.
  • Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets.
  • Ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained and that funds are not obligated for material or parts without proper justification.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within one year of appointment.
  • To initially qualify and as a condition of continued dual status technician employment, must have the capability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 70 pounds.

  • Army military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined by Army Medical Examinations and Standards.
