About the Role

The position is located at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (OKCVAHCS) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and is assigned to the Facilities Management Service (FMS). The Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic receives general work related instructions or assignments. This position primarily conducts duties at the OKCVAHCS, but at times may be required to travel to the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in the catchment area.

What You'll Do

  • Major Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Mastery of direct digital control (DDC) systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and building automation systems Performs preventative maintenance inspections and tasks on electronic Fire systems and related components to determine wear, reliability and load capabilities.
  • Must performance metrics: system uptime, commissioning quality, efficiency improvements, and minimized service tickets.
  • Plans layout and installation of Fire controls wiring, equipment, and/or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Assembles, installs, tests, or maintains electronic wiring, equipment,, apparatus, or fixtures, using proper tools.
  • Uses proper techniques and knowledge of Fire electronics Ability to make data-driven decisions, through troubleshooting.
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
  • Ability to make efficient repairs to cut energy waste and operating costs.
  • Tests Fire systems or equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Ability to maintain all electronic tools and power tools Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Inspects Fire systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Troubleshoots circuits, controls and systems to locate, repair and replace defective components.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Must be able to read schematics and wiring diagrams Must have knowledge of AC circuit analysis for Fire equipment Analyze circuits, diagnose faults, and implement repairs effectively Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Position Description Title/PD#: Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic- Fire Systems/PD14762A Physical Requirements: Incumbents must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical effort over a minimum eight-hour period (which may run longer if overtime or off-hours work is required due to medical center needs), including lifting, crawling, climbing, bending, etc.
