This position is located in the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) located in Building 37, VAMC, Hines. The CMOP is responsible for the processing and packaging of approximately 20 million pharmaceutical prescriptions per year for 31 V AMCs in 9 states.
What You'll Do
- →Duties may include but are not limited to: Provides comprehensive technical support for all CMOP automated equipment systems, such as automatic and semi automatic packaging systems, automatic repackaging equipment, tote and puck conveyor systems, tablet counting and unit of use dispensing equipment and production related computer systems.
- →Programs, operates and troubleshoots all programmable logic controllers (PLC) as well as all input/output devices.
- →Troubleshoots equipment problems and then takes proper corrective action to restore the device to its fully operational level.
- →Incumbent troubleshoots systems for which no standard, service manual or standard practice may exist.
- →Evaluates corrective action alternatives for cost effectiveness, considering device repair history, device age and expected remaining lifetime, user needs, and parts availability.
- →Evaluates the CMOP system and subsystems and determines what test and calibration equipment is required, and evaluates the compatibility between CMOP subsystems and makes modifications to the interconnection, if necessary, to increase the reliability of the overall system.
- →Advises and consults with the Facility Manager in equipment matters pertaining to the selection, installation, or modification of equipment, or unusual maintenance problems.
- →Works closely with contractors during installation, and through the COR may suggest modification of equipment system specifications, if needed, to adapt the equipment to the environment.
