About the Role
The position is in the Electric Shop, Facilities Management Service (FMS) and works under the direct supervision of the Electric Shop Supervisor. The primary purpose of the position involves maintaining, installing, modifying, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and electrical, office and environmental management equipment within the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and 6 offsite Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC).
What You'll Do
- →Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
- →Troubleshoots and repairs all electrical distribution and control systems in the boiler heating plant.
- →Performs a wide range of tests/checks relating to electrical safety and equipment operation as outlined by the Joint Commission, OSHA, NEC, HAP, CAP, VA and other pertinent standards and/or policies.
- →Performs duties of an Elevator Mechanic or Maintenance Mechanic which involves troubleshooting, modifying, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance of hydraulic, traction screw type elevator systems, as well as inspecting and troubleshooting electrical.
- →Work is checked on an overall basis for compliance with accepted trade standards.
- →Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Compressed Available Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD92776A Physical Requirements: Incumbent is required to work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms.
- →Work requires standing, reaching, bending, climbing, and stooping, as the work site dictates.
- →May work above ground level and/or in confined spaces.
- →Required to lift, carry, and set up tools, equipment, and parts necessary to the job.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
