About the Role

This vacancy is for a WG-2805-10, Electrician located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Director of Operational Logistics, Base Boston, Naval Engineering Department Boston, Industrial Production Facility South Portland in Boston, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do

  • You will be responsible for responsible for the proper installation and repair of electrical equipment, surrounding housing, circuits and equipment.
  • Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member.
  • Typical duties include: Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Installing all types of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, converters, inverters, alternators, frequency modulators, transformers, controllers and switchboards.
  • Installing wire or cables of all sizes and the mechanical protection required by code.
  • Installing various types of control and alarm systems.
  • Selecting and ordering the proper materials for repairs, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Completing comprehensive facility maintenance activities by supporting and assisting other trades, such as Carpenters, Maintenance Mechanics, Masons, and others, when deemed necessary by the supervisor.
