This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Operational Infrastructure and Facility Services at Munro (JOH) Operational Services (JO), Chief Information Office (J) A successful candidate in the Electrician (Control Center) position will be responsible for the routine inspection, modification, installation, adjustment, and troubleshooting of Control Center electrical equipment and facilities, including building electrical facilities.
What You'll Do
- →As an Electrician (Control Center), you will: Install, adjust, maintain, and repair electrical equipment.
- →Test, repair, and modify items including motors, small power tools, and other miscellaneous items.
- →Assemble control or relay panels.
- →Panels and/or server racks are drilled and instruments, switches, lights, and relays are mounted and wired according to design drawings in a shop setting.
- →Install or modify existing switchboards by cutting, drilling, or mounting additional items and connecting wires as needed.
- →Install or modify communication equipment by mounting or adjust antennas, reflectors, transmitting or receiving devices, emergency power supplies, and other equipment.
- →Wire various control center building equipment, including equipment connect by wire and fiber optic conductors to control and communication equipment.
- →De-energize and ground high-voltage equipment in order to safely complete work.
- →Isolate equipment for repair or maintenance.
- →Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned and incidental tasks related to maintenance of the control center.
Requirements
- ✓Key Requirements: You must be a United States Citizen.

- ✓You will be required to report in person to the official duty location.
- ✓Special Conditions of Employment: Possess valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with all endorsements that are required to operate substation maintenance and construction equipment from state of residence.
- ✓Possess a U.S.
- ✓Motor Vehicle Operator Authorization or obtain within 30 days after appointment.
- ✓Traffic citations indicating poor driving habits may disqualify applicants.
- ✓This position requires an initial drug test prior to appointment and random drug or drug and alcohol testing thereafter.
- ✓Failure to test or a positive result on random drug or drug and alcohol tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- ✓This position requires a preemployment medical exam, at BPA expense, prior to appointment due to the physical requirements of the position.
- ✓After employment, this position may be subject to periodic physical examinations, as prescribed by competent medical authority and at BPA expense, if exposed to health hazards.
- ✓Become fully knowledgeable of and follow the safety practices of the BPA Accident Prevention Manual.
- ✓Establish a residence in accordance with negotiated requirements that is within one hour or less commuting time under normal weather and road conditions, to the duty station headquarters.
