The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Electrical Worker. The Electrical Worker will function in Engineering Service.
What You'll Do
- →Installs electrical equipment, provides electrical support, conducts preventative maintenance inspections, or makes repairs to lighting and other various electrical systems within the Cleveland V.A.
- →Medical Center campus.
- →Receives written instruction, electronic work orders, or oral instructions from the shop supervisor or work leader of the assigned shop.
- →Incumbent must be proficient at reading and interpreting wiring diagrams that indicate the nature of the repair or installation to be made, the layout and placement of circuitry, fixtures, and controls, and the types of wiring, parts, and equipment installed.
- →Removes, replaces, tightens, splices, solders and insulates defective wiring, controls, equipment and lighting fixtures.
- →Locates broken , worn, damaged defective parts and equipment, through visual observation or through the use of test equipment.
- →Incumbent must be proficient with use of electrical test equipment to include- test lamps, voltage testers, lux meters, ammeters, insulation testers, and polarity testers.
- →Incumbent shall support shop electricians or electronics mechanics as a helper when requested by the shop supervisor or work leader.
- →The incumbent shall also assist with electrical utility support for planned and unplanned outages and provide support for medical center special events when required.
- →Completes needed repairs or modifications to installed electrical lighting system controllers or electrical components such as outlets, switches, motion sensors, contactors, circuit breakers, light fixtures and related components.
- →Performs other duties as assigned.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Position Description Title/PD#: Electrical Worker/PD95261A Physical Requirements: Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places.
- →This requires the electrical worker to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts weighing up to 20 pounds and less often, up to 40 pounds.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
