This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About this Position: Provides technical support for the operations and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment at a multi-purpose dam which includes a hydroelectric powerplant, switchyard, spillway, outlet works, and other associated facilities.
What You'll Do
- →Provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of power plant electrical equipment, including generators/governors, transformers, voltage regulators, protective relaying systems, or switchyard grounding systems.
- →Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve issues with major electrical and electronic equipment in the power plant and other associated facilities.
- →Develop and modify electrical schematics, control systems, and wiring diagrams for existing power plant facilities.
- →Prepare final designs and project specifications for electrical/electronic systems in a hydroelectric powerplant and other associated facilities.
- →Review engineering plans, project specifications, and equipment for technical accuracy, safety, and adherence to National Electric Codes, National Fire Code, National Electric Reliability Corporation, and other industry standards.
- →Prepare engineering justifications, design studies, and cost estimates for electrical/electronic system projects and equipment replacement.
- →Perform contract administration, serving as a project engineer managing project budgets and ensuring contractor's performance is in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- →Assist the Power Plant Manager with ensuring all program activities adhere to NERC reliability standards.
- →Provide technical support in the operation and maintenance of fire detection and security systems to ensure proper functioning of these systems.
