About the Role

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a DIRECTOR OF FORCE SUPPORT (Title 32), Position Description Number D2696000 and is part of the OK 138th Fighter Wing, Oklahoma Air National Guard.

What You'll Do

  • This position is located at an Air National Guard (ANG) Wing, Mission Support Group, Force Support Squadron.
  • The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Director and to exercise first and second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the FSS, manage the activities of the FSS, Commander Support Staff (CSS) and oversee the planning, direction, and timely execution of high visibility and high impact FSS programs.
  • This PD can only be utilized when the DSG Commander is the full-time technician.
  • The Director of Force Support makes independent technical and executive decisions for the squadron in all areas of functional responsibility.
  • This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Title 32 Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification.
  • MAJOR DUTIES: Directs, plans, organizes, and oversees all support services activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS) to supported organizational units.
  • Coordinates work of force support personnel outside of the organization through relationships with senior leaders and career field managers.
  • Serves as the primary advisor to senior leaders within and outside of the organization on all military personnel and force support matters within the Wing.
  • Directs force support activities within the Wing to include Personnel, Commander's Support Staff, Base Contingency Operations, Food Services, Mortuary & Casualty Operations, Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Fitness, Family Readiness, Force Development, Personnel Readiness, Postal and Honor Guard.
  • May direct Recruiting and Retention operations for the Wing.
  • Manages multiple resource budgets with differing legal requirements and timelines for execution.
  • Makes decisions on complex work problems presented by subordinate supervisors.
  • Finds and implements ways to improve processes, eliminate bottlenecks, promote team building, and improve business practices.
  • Exercises delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of all military personnel and manpower activities within the Wing.

Requirements

  • Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
