This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →Employees in this assignment serve in an Outpatient Dietitian (Clinical) role performing in an entry-level (GS-7), developmental level (GS-9) or, at the full performance level (GS-11), serving as the medical nutrition expert within the Clinical Section of Nutrition and Food Service (NFS).
- →They are autonomous in their work in applying evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines for all patients, including those with complex medical and nutritional needs.
- →They interpret research and utilize whole health principles to develop patient-centered goals and improve outcomes.
- →Modifies the plan as needed to achieve positive patient outcomes Calculates nutrient requirements and necessary diet restrictions or food and drug interactions tailoring the diet prescription to each individual patient Documents MNT in the medical record using the Assessment, Diagnosis, Intervention, Monitoring, Evaluation (ADIME) format.
- →Utilizes virtual care technology to improve access to care Maintains productivity standards Maintains accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities and completes patient encounters using approved systems Ensures continuous improvement of safe and quality care of Veterans Leads activities in the implementation of new initiatives.

Requirements
