About the Role

The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita Kansas is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography position in Wichita. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position. For more information, refer to Required Documents below.

What You'll Do

  • The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Independently performs routine and complex computed tomography procedures with and without contrast material according to established protocol, in a safe and professional manner.
  • Independently performs as a diagnostic technologist in the performance and coordination of all diagnostic radiology examinations, within the Imaging Department, critical areas of the hospital and surgical suites.
  • Employee may also be subject to occasional travel and be asked to provide coverage at other satellite locations if needed.
  • The purpose of these exams is to obtain quality diagnostic studies enabling proper diagnosis and treatment Independently performs standard and emergency computed tomography and diagnostic procedures, institutes modifications required to accommodate unusual or difficult patients or disease processes.
  • Performs reconstructions of CT and angiographic studies when requested or when required as part of a standard procedure.
  • Assists in the training of new radiology technologists, students, residents, and other staff to enhancing the personal and professional development of others within the medical service as directed by management.
  • Prepares contrast materials that are used in CT and diagnostic exams.
  • Improper use or administration of the contrast materials run the risk of patient mortality and, therefore, it is essential that the technologist thoroughly understand the use of contrast material.
  • The technologist is certified to insert IV needles for administration of contrast material.
  • Routinely cleans and inspects equipment to insure proper mechanical and electrical administration of the contrast materials run the risk of patient mortality and, therefore, it is essential that the technologist thoroughly understand the use of contrast material.
  • The technologist is certified to insert IV needles for administration of contrast material.
  • Routinely cleans and inspects equipment to insure proper mechanical and electrical operation and promptly reports any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Complies with JCAHO and OSHA standards to avoid exposure and cross contamination by infectious materials.
  • Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, utilizing lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead lined walls and collimation.
