The VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System (VAEKHCS) is a comprehensive veterans' healthcare network serving 39 counties across eastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri, spanning approximately 20,000 square miles. Established in 1998 by integrating the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka and the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, the system features two main inpatient hospitals along with eight community-based outpatient clinics.
What You'll Do
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- →The incumbent monitors and ensures staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, The Joint Commission standards, and other applicable federal and VA regulations.
- →The incumbent directly supervises physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and other support staff assigned within the service lines under their purview.
- →The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for collaboration and coordination within their own service lines and with the various service lines at EKHCS, as well as with other facilities within VISN 4, Health Service Area (HSA) 4.2.
- →They are responsible for effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- →Incumbent must have strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate and work in cooperation within their own and other service lines.
- →Coordinates care across all assigned service lines at both the Topeka and Leavenworth divisions and the 6 CBOC clinics; develops and oversees care provided by physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs); provides direct patient care as required and provides clinical guidance to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and staff within assigned service lines.
- →Responsible for coordinating within their own Service Lines, outside of their Service Lines, at both divisions within the EKHCS structure, the CBOC Clinics, and other facilities within VISN 4, Health Service Area (HSA) 4.2.
- →Open, clear, and collaborative engagements are a key duty.
- →Incumbent is ultimately responsible for ensuring barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment.
- →Fosters positive working relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans.
- →Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
Requirements

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
