About the Role
The Deputy Chief, Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) Medical Operations (APN) detail is for the White City VA Medical Center. The detail is intended to last for up to 1 year. *If selected for this temporary detail, appointment may be extended or made permanent without further competition. NOTE: The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this position. For more information, refer to Required Documents below.
What You'll Do
- →The Deputy Chief, RRTP Medical Operations is a minimum of 50% clinical, and 50% administrative program management with the expectation that if the need arises this position will increase their clinical care to meet the needs of the service.
- →Examples include but are not limited to clinical staff unplanned absences, turnover, or attrition.
- →Provides executive input in the strategic plan, budget, mission, operations, and policy development for local and network efforts.
- →Utilizes current trends and relevant theories in an analytical framework to design, implement, and measure integrated programs and activities to achieve clinical and administrative goals.
- →Evaluates outcomes against strategic priorities.
- →Demonstrates substantial and continuous responsibility for directing and managing an integrated service/program.
- →Serves as a consultant to medical center staff and the greater community in areas of expertise.
- →Demonstrates grade-appropriate, consistent critical thinking skills.
- →Identifies outcomes that can be improved and leads the performance improvement process to enhance and/or sustain clinical and administrative outcomes.
- →Identifies, develops, and/or initiates programs to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- →Provides leadership in the development, implementation, and review/revision of policies, protocols, procedures, standards of care, competencies and privileges for complex and diverse integrated programs and evaluates operational outcomes.
- →Utilizes a variety of evaluation strategies to define the overall effectiveness and outcomes of applications, software, and hardware.
- →Identifies performance improvement opportunities and initiates/leads quality improvement teams to collect data, analyze results, and design practice changes to improve outcomes.
- →Provides a leadership role in professional, community, and governmental bodies that shape healthcare policy, contributing to the development/improvement of the healthcare delivery system and better patient outcomes.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical evaluation/examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
