What You'll Do
- →As Deputy Chief, Law Enforcement Operations, in the U.S.
- →Border Patrol, you will work closely with the Chief, Law Enforcement Operations, in planning, organizing, prioritizing, managing, and directing all phases of the U.S.
- →Border Patrol's programs relating to: the detection and prevention of terrorists and weapons of mass destruction; the smuggling and illegal entry of aliens; illegal importation of contraband and narcotics; the apprehension of offenders; and the enforcement of criminal and other provisions of the Immigration and Nationality laws across our Nation's border.
- →You will continuously oversee the development of modifications to techniques and methods to ensure that the mission and basic responsibility of the U.S.
- →Border Patrol are carried out at our Nation's borders.
- →You will oversee the deployment of necessary resources to effect border operations.
- →You will direct operations and oversee intelligence and anti-smuggling activities involving the collection, correlation, evaluation, and dissemination of intelligence.
- →You will visit Border Patrol Stations to observe operations and determine their effectiveness, adequacy of equipment, and compliance with agency policies and directives.
- →You will serve as an advisor to U.S.
- →Customs and Border Protection and Department of Homeland Security officials on matters related to border operations.
- →You will make recommendations for changes or revisions in overall program policies and practices that may be required to produce the most effective management of Border Patrol functions.

Requirements
- ✓Must be a U.S.
- ✓All pre-employment processes will be conducted in English.
- ✓You may be required to pass a background investigation.
- ✓CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.
- ✓You will be required to carry a firearm and maintain firearm proficiency.
- ✓Subject to a 1-year supervisory probationary period (unless already completed).
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓May be subject to pre-employment and random drug tests File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- ✓You may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- ✓Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- ✓Organizational and geographical mobility is essential in developing and managing SES leaders.
- ✓Individuals selected for SES positions may be subject to reassignment across geographical, organizational, and functional lines, and may be required to sign a Reassignment Rights and Obligation Agreement.
- ✓Proficiency in speaking the Spanish language is required.
