About the Position: Serves as Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, J1, USFK, and Assistant Deputy UNC, overseeing daily operations and goals within the J1 Directorate. Provides expertise on joint manpower, personnel policies, programs, and assignments. Supports planning, coordination, personnel analysis, capability reviews, risk assessments, and promotes joint concepts and interoperability across USFK and the Korea Theater of Operations (KTO).
What You'll Do
- →Serves as an advisor to the Assistant Chief of Staff, J1 on the adequacy, propriety and direction of administrative operations.
- →Serves as the primary agency focal point for intra-DoW exchange and communication of new or changed administrative/personnel requirements (manpower authorizations, personnel management, and other miscellaneous administrative areas).
- →Oversees the proper implementation of laws and DoW policies governing personnel operations.
- →Directs preparation and implementation of supplemental personnel policy guidance.
- →Responsible for the oversight of manpower and human resources programs (military and civilian personnel), education and quality of life programs, administrative programs, exercise and readiness programs, and reserve affairs programs.
- →Provides senior leadership oversight of all staff functions and divisions to ensure mission accomplishment.
- →Oversees development and management of long and short range plans for military (active and reserve component) and civilian personnel staffing.
- →Intercedes, mediates and/or decides a wide variety of issues that include: recruiting, awards and recognition, personnel staffing priorities, work force shaping initiatives, labor management, promotions, assignments, pay and benefits.
- →Oversees Directorate manpower, manning and resource management.
- →Represents the Directorate on Joint Manpower Utilization groups and related forums.
- →Oversees civilian workforce training and leader development to include needs assessment and command-wide training initiatives.
- →Oversee advisory services and direction for planning, development, operation and evaluation of a comprehensive personnel management program.
- →Exercises substantial managerial responsibility to set a series of annual, multiyear, or similar types of long-range work plans and schedules for all administrative operations carried out in support of the Assistant Chief of Staff, J1.
- →Utilizes subordinate supervisors/leaders to assist in setting work priorities and schedules, make work assignments, review and coordinate completed work and to accomplish tasks.
