About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →The VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) Staff Dentist serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard, corrective, restorative, or preventive measures.
- →This position reports to the Service Chief, Dental, and works with other staff, including dentists, hygienists, and assistants, in a positive and collaborative work setting with the goal of providing excellent dental care to Veterans.
- →Duties include but not limited to: Evaluations, prophylaxis, radiographs, dental health education, fluoride treatments, sealants, composite and amalgam restorations, crowns, extractions, some endodontic and simple periodontal procedures.
- →Provides clinical guidance including patient treatment, four-handed dentistry, infection control, OSHA guidelines, x-rays, and oral health education, knowledge and application of HIPPA/security regulations, and in compliance with VHA policy.
- →Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performs regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establishes a plan for better dental hygiene.
- →Performs dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and fills cavities.
- →Corrects bite issues and overcrowding.
- →Applies helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
