About the Role
The Staff Dentist will function as a general dentist, practicing the full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems. He/she will be responsible for the overall dental care of patients, to include consultative services in both the inpatient and outpatient settings at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center.
What You'll Do
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
- →Dentists are charged with oral assessment and provision of oral healthcare services and patient education.
- →The dentists provide clinical leadership and are responsible for overseeing the conduct and performance of designated ancillary staff performing certain delegated procedures.
- →These auxiliaries include dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental laboratory technicians and clerical staff.
- →Dentists interact with other health providers in the medical center, train and supervise dental residents and students, and develop and maintain peer review and process improvement programs.
- →All staff dentists are required to maintain current BLS, dental /pharmacy/dental specialty licenses, and maintain current privileges.
- →Dentists are required to complete continuing education to maintain licensure and meet the compulsory education requirements of Ann Arbor VA Medical Center.
- →All dentists will practice only within the range of their current privileges and meet the community standards of care.
- →Both Focused Professional Practice Evaluation, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation and Peer Review are utilized to assess competency of dentists.
- →All dentists are required to follow national and local policies.
- →Dentist and residents actively participate in performance improvement activities.

Requirements
