The general practice dental officer serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative, or preventive measures.

- →Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized The General Dentistry dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services.
- →Major Duties include but are not limited to: 1.
- →Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and provide interpretation of imaging. 2.
- →Review of medical history and apply knowledge to patient management. 3.
- →Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions. 4.
- →Perform treatment planning, including multi-step, complex plans with input from specialists as needed. 5.
- →Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. 6.
- →Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth. 7.
- →Perform routine extractions and other surgical procedures within the scope of a general dentist. 8.
- →Perform prosthetic dentistry, including immediate, full and partial dentures; crowns; and fixed bridge work. 9.
- →Perform routine dental implant restorations. 10.
- →Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth. 11.
Requirements

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.
