About the Role

This position is located in the Office of Investigations (INV). INV has broad jurisdiction over criminal, civil, and administrative investigations of alleged violations of Federal laws, regulations, and policies relating to Department of State (Department) and U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) programs and operations, such as: procurement fraud, grant fraud, false claims, public corruption, conflicts of interest, trafficking in persons, and employee misconduct or serious wrong doing.

What You'll Do

  • The duties of the Criminal Investigator (Special Agent) GS-1811-13: Executing investigations, developing investigative plans, making decisions, and leading complex criminal investigations.
  • Directing and participating in large-scale investigations having national or international jurisdictional or media interest.
  • Arranging access to records and work sites, interviewing staff and executive personnel.
  • Executing search warrants, serving subpoenas, and conducting surveillance.
  • Executing and conducting arrest warrants.
  • Conducting interviews of witnesses, victims, and subjects.
  • Drafting supporting documentation such as affidavits, memorandums of interviews, case closing memos, and reports of investigations.
  • Updating and maintaining case information in a case management system.
  • Evaluating information reported to identify issues involved and types of evidence needed.
  • Communicating to management team on progress of investigations.
