What You'll Do
- →The position will serve as a Senior Special Agent (SSA) providing technical expertise, support and guidance to other criminal investigators regardless of grade and conducting a wide range of investigations that, could be violations of U.S. criminal and civil laws, regulations and rules.
- →As such, the incumbent is authorized to carry firearms, serve arrest and search warrants, and testify in criminal/civil court trials and grand jury and administrative hearing proceedings.
- →Typical assignments include: Performs analyses and conducts investigations regarding a wide variety of allegations received by the Office of Inspector General.
- →Coordinates plans and personally conducts the most complex, difficult, or sensitive criminal investigations of major importance and high-level interest; and misconduct allegations involving high-ranking DHS officials.
- →Performs special assignments where investigative matters cover a wide range of U.S.
- →Codes and administrative laws, ranging in complexity from violations by individuals to conspiracies to commit acts.
- →Drafts and prepares concise, logical briefings, reports of investigation and summaries, including recommendations for prosecution and/or corrective action, for the Special Agent in Charge, the Deputy Inspector General for Integrity, the Inspector General and other senior departmental officials.
- →Assists the Special Agent in Charge and the Deputy Inspector General for Integrity in coordinating and referring completed investigative matters to the U.S.
- →Department of Justice for evaluation and possible prosecution as appropriate.
- →Prepares, reviews, and revises new policies, programs, standards, and techniques.
- →Provides guidance and consultation concerning case development, and conveys the views, goals and policies of the Special Agent in Charge and Deputy Inspector General for Integrity.
