About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned & operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813. Today it is relied upon by U.S. and foreign militaries to produce the most advanced, high-powered weaponry for cannon, howitzer, and mortar systems. The Arsenal is the only location in the DoD that has a weapons research facility (Benét Labs) collocated with a manufacturing facility.
What You'll Do
- →Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
- →Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
- →Operates Bridge Cranes: Applies a high degree of skill in operating electric bridge cranes within a weapons manufacturing activity.
- →Selects and attaches proper lifting and grappling equipment, cables, ropes, and slings used to lift, move and position large and heavy equipment.
- →Operates forklift trucks with a capacity under 10,000 pounds to load and unload, stack and unstack, re-warehouse, and move boxes, crates, pallets, components, or loose items.
- →Make preliminary and in process tests of equipment to assure proper functioning and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
- →Operate a variety of equipment having wide variances in weight and lift capacity to lift, move, and position machine tools cannons and cannon components for machining operation.
- →Check work for compliance with work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines
