About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-1102-14, Contract Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, ALC CHIEF OF CONTRACTING OFFICE -COCO in ELIZABETH CITY, North Carolina.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a contracting specialist/contracting officer with complete responsibilities to plan and execute all contractual actions as assigned for the procurement of aviation related supplies and services to ensure availability of aircraft parts and services necessary to support mission targets.
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Serves as a senior advisor consultant and liaison to top management officials, policy makers, and non-governmental organizations and instructions on challenging, new developments in contracting/procurement initiatives.
  • Serves as a senior Contract Specialist/Contracting Officer responsible for procurements that contain a number of different processes or elements resulting in extensive contract administration and subcontracting.
  • Serves as a senior Contract Specialist responsible for procurements which include state-of-the-art equipment or systems.
  • Performs contract administration activities for significant, highly specialized procurements.
  • Negotiates modifications to major procurements for long-tern systems or programs.
  • Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
  • Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting Professional (FAC-C Professional) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
