This vacancy is for a GS - 0301 - 11, Command Center Watchstander located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG FORCES MICRONESIA/SECTOR GUAM COMMAND CENTER in SANTA RITA, Guam.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Command Center Watchstander and be responsible for for maintaining information management, situational awareness, and command and control over all Coast Guard Operations in the area of responsibility as well as providing mentoring and training to other Watchstanders.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Overseeing and monitoring the Sector's response to Search and Rescue (SAR) cases in order to minimize loss of life and property at sea.
- →Developing search action plans while investigating and coordinating ongoing activities and operations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- →Providing command and control over Coast Guard assets in all maritime law enforcement operations within the Sector AOR.
- →Maintaining command and control of response operations for oil discharges and hazardous substance releases within Sector AOR.
- →Analyzing and disseminating a variety of nautical data such as current, tides and weather.
- →Interacting with federal, state, and local government agencies while coordinating response to SAR, Law Enforcement, PWCS, MER, and other Coast Guard missions.
- →Other requirements include the following: Within one year of arrival, will be required to complete Maritime Search and Planning course )MSP (TRACEN Yorktown), and Command Center Schools (TRACEN Yorktown).
- →After 5 years, may be required to attend both schools at the discretion of the SCC Chief for refresher training.
- →Will be required to return to the MSP course (TRACEN Yorktown) once every 8 years.
