About the Role
About the Position: Serve as a senior-level Clinical Psychologist within the Department of Mental Health at Naval Health Clinic Annapolis in Annapolis, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluations using expert knowledge of clinical psychology, including the administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological assessment instruments.
- →Identify mental health diagnoses in accordance with the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR) and develop individualized treatment plans using SMART goal methodology.
- →Assess and manage acute and chronic mental health risk, including evaluation and disposition (fitness for duty) of active duty servicemembers presenting with suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and other safety concerns.
- →Provide evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy using a variety of modalities, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), brief problem-focused interventions, and psychoeducational classes.
- →Coordinate referrals and higher levels of care (e.g., inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, Partial Hospitalization Programs, Intensive Outpatient Programs) when clinically indicated.
- →Review and approve appropriate treatment modalities for each patient, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practice guidelines and applicable DoD/DHA policies.
- →Provide expert psychological and clinical consultation to physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health technicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding psychological treatment options and complex case management.
- →Serve as an authoritative source of clinical expertise in human behavior as a member of the multidisciplinary mental health team, optimizing health outcomes through collaborative treatment planning.
- →Execute performance improvement initiatives, evaluates clinical records, monitors objective outcome measures, and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation standards.
- →Review and revise standard operating procedures as needed to improve clinical operations and patient care delivery.
