About the Role

You will serve as a Civil Engineer with Bureau of Reclamation. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Denver, Applied Hydrology 2, LAKEWOOD,COLORADO.

What You'll Do

  • Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Engineering Analysis: Performs and/or coordinates engineering analyses including technical planning activities; data collection, validation, and management; modeling and data analyses; analyses of site location and/or conditions; risk estimation and analyses; or analysis of instrumentation data.
  • Design: Plans and conducts engineering studies or evaluations such as preliminary, appraisal, feasibility, final design, and value planning/value engineering studies.
  • Creates, performs, reviews, checks, and/or models engineering designs.
  • Develops/drafts design criteria, procedures, and instructions.
  • Contributes to the design and/or modification of new or existing features to mitigate static, dynamic, and/or hydrologic/hydraulic loadings.
  • Designs, installs, and/or maintains instrumentation systems to provide engineering data for analysis and/or operational decision support.
  • Documentation and Presentation: Prepares and reviews technical documentation such as technical memorandums and reports, correspondence, design criteria, design standards, designer's operating criteria, operating procedures, and other technical documentation as needed.
  • Makes oral presentations of technical documentation at coordination meetings, technical briefings, or other meetings.
  • Review and Mentoring: Provides technical reviews, peer reviews, and checking of designs, drawings, engineering analyses, and technical documentation.
  • Provides technical guidance, training, and advice to lower graded engineers and technicians and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance - Provides engineering support in connection with regulatory program oversight, policy and rulemaking efforts, review of regulatory compliance issues, and resolution of engineering related issues.
  • Database Operation - Develops, modifies, and utilizes relational databases to maintain engineering data for conducting operational and planning analyses, and coordinates and operates engineering data collection systems.
  • Technical Working Groups - Participates on and/or leads technical work groups or teams.
  • The following duties are shown at the GS-11 level.
