This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Office Textiles and Apparel. The incumbent has primary responsibility for advising the U.S Trade Representative, developing and implementing trade policy, and for developing negotiation strategy on trade issues regarding textile and apparel products.
What You'll Do
- →As a Chief Textiles and Apparel Negotiator, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following: Serves as the US government's chief negotiator in the bilateral or multilateral trade negotiations related to textile and apparel products.
- →Secures cooperation of foreign counterparts, government agencies, and high-ranking officials to draw on diverse background and interests towards favorable US interests.
- →Explains and defends the administration's trade policies to Congress, the public, domestic, and foreign stakeholders, as well as foreign counterparts.
- →Develops policy positions on issues relating to negotiation and administration of US trade agreements.
- →Discusses trade problems with US private sector representatives in order to develop policy and negotiation strategies.
