Chief of Behavioral Health Service Line (Social Worker)

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →The Chief of Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL)/Social Work Program Manager is a full-time position assigned the responsibility and oversight of the BHSL management team for the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System (FVACHCS).
- →The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the practice of Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Discipline Leads who are Subject Matter Experts in their areas.
- →The Chief of BHSL is also responsible for overseeing the professional practice of all clinical and administrative staff.
- →The incumbent will perform assignments that are collateral to primary duties deemed necessary to meet the needs of the organization, VISN and VACO.
- →Incumbent makes independent professional decisions and recommendations to the Chief of Staff (COS).
- →Incumbent serves as a liaison to other Service or care-lines within the organization related to BHSL.
- →The Chief of BHSL will provide management and supervision to various clinical staff and clinical operations within the BHSL.
- →The incumbent must be licensed in a state at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
- →The Chief of BHSL should have at least two years in an area of specialized social work practice in mental/behavioral health.
- →The incumbent coordinates BHSL programming implementation within multiple clinical services across all campus locations within the FVACHCS, including but not limited to Social Work, Psychology, Psychiatry and other mental health providers as needed.
- →The incumbent may provide, monitor and supervise clinical interventions to Veteran populations served by each program.
- →The incumbent is ultimately responsible for making decisions regarding labor issues presented by subordinate supervisors and managers.
- →Incumbent collaborates with others in negotiating, deciding upon, and/or coordinating clinical practice and related changes affecting other programs.
- →The Chief of BHSL advises Care Line Managers/Chiefs on problems involving the relationship of behavioral health activities to the various units and programs.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓Must be able to meet physical demands which include strenuous physical activity to include carrying persons and equipment, walking long distances over difficult terrain, running, climbing, working long hours in primitive or arduous conditions, long periods of standing, and bending and stooping.
