About the Role
The Nurse IV Chief Nurse: Acute Care, executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and, influence the organizational healthcare mission.
What You'll Do
- →The Chief Nurse of Acute Care executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care.
- →The Nurse IV is responsible for administrative functions of their assigned nursing units/programs.
- →Functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with other services.
- →Major duties and responsibilities include: Provides continued evaluation of existing programs within the Acute Care Service Line.
- →Proposes necessary changes to programs at the direction of the ADPCS/DADPCS, initiates new programs in furtherance of goals and performance measures.
- →Provides accountability and coordination of regulatory and environmental surveys.
- →Works closely with Nurse Managers and Assistant Nurse Managers on personnel actions including feedback and counseling for nursing staff, service recovery activities, and consults on hiring procedures.
- →Responsible for the nursing practice, quality of care, personnel management, resources allocation and budget as well as ensuring a healthy work environment, and actively participating in implementing the mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives of VAHCS.
- →Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all levels of VISN and medical center personnel and relate effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels.
- →Contributes to ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of nursing organization wide.
- →Assist in policymaking activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs.
- →Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
