About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Agriculture Enforcement and Engagement, Process Resolution and Risk Management, located in Washington D.C.

What You'll Do

  • Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering the U.S.
  • Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen Homeland Security by performing law enforcement activities that enforce the laws and regulations related to the import and export of agriculture, commodities and baggage entering and/or exiting the United States.
  • This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $187,093.00 (GS-14 Step 10).
  • To meet agency needs, this position will be filled on a temporary basis not-to-exceed (NTE) 3 year(s), with possible extensions for an additional two (2) years, in one (1) year increments.
  • You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay, and that the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. § 351, 432, 752, and 771.
  • Return to your original location will be prioritized, but is not guaranteed.
  • At management's discretion, you may be permanently promoted to this position without further competition.
  • Typical duties include: Conducting evaluations, quality assurance, and/or quality control of Field Office/preclearance location activities.
  • Developing and implementing strategies with national applicability for utilizing data to identify and mitigate agricultural threats.
  • Serving as a lead technical consultant and providing expert guidance to Field Offices, on the interpretative techniques and regulatory requirements pertaining to the processing of passenger baggage, cargo, and conveyances.
  • Overseeing implementation of the agriculture program goals and objectives by Field Offices/preclearance locations.
