About the Role
This position serves as Cartographer under the Operations Section of the Emergency Management Branch. The selectee works under the general administrative direction of the Operations Section Chief who makes assignments of a broad and general nature covering long-range program priorities, policies, and objectives. Selectee provides advice and guidance to the Emergency Management Branch Chief on emergency requirements in collaboration with other federal departments, agencies, and programs.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Coordinates Geographic Information System support to Agency program areas, prioritizes projects, and ensures customer satisfaction with resulting products.
- →Serves as the primary Geographic Information System liaison between APHIS and USDA Headquarters for operational and situational awareness tools and serves as a member of the USDA Geographic Information System Working Group.
- →Acquires, organizes, and maintains consistent geospatial data including data derived externally (aerial imagery, current meteorological information, land ownership data, etc.) and internally.
- →Supports Operations section staff in the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures, and guidelines for use in the primary APHIS Emergency Operations Center.
- →Provides guidance and in-depth technical assistance to AHPIS program leadership and staff regarding the implementation and maintenance of agency-wide situational awareness tools.
- →Other duties as assigned.
