About the Role
The Carpenter position constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and building components as part of the Facilities Management - Engineering service line at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS).
What You'll Do
- →Major duties include but are not limited to: Frames, installs, and repairs structures such as walls, acoustic panels, wall protection, partitions, floors, ceiling types, cabinets and similar architectural elements.
- →Uses a variety of carpentry tools and materials.
- →Repairs structural and finish components affected by a variety of conditions, such as water intrusion, leaks, flooding, moisture exposure, impact damage, wear, or deterioration.
- →Repairs and replaces drywall, ceilings, flooring, trim, cabinetry, framing, and similar building elements.
- →Performs structural maintenance and repairs.
- →Performs maintenance and repairs on exterior building envelope components that manage water flow, such as gutters, downspouts, flashing, roofing systems, and water-exposed architectural features.
- →Maintains work logs, completes required forms, and communicates statuses or issues to supervisors or team members.
- →Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation Selective Services Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
