About the Role

Job Description

The Carpenter is responsible for measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. They construct and install building frameworks such as walls, floors, and doorframes. Carpenters also inspect and replace damaged structures and fixtures, and they provide guidance and direction to laborers and other construction helpers.

Essential Functions:

Construction & Installation

  • Hang drywall and assist with wall/ceiling framing.
  • Install wood, tile, and vinyl flooring.
  • Install, maintain, and repair cabinets, insulation, tile, and drywall.
  • Build and install doors, cabinets, shelving, and windows.
  • Cut, shape, and alter wood, plastic, and other materials as needed.
  • Measure and mark materials for precise alterations.
  • Assemble structural components according to specifications.
  • Operate hand and power tools required for carpentry tasks.
  • Assist with demolition of existing structures when necessary.
  • Ensure all installations meet building codes and project requirements

Reporting, Documentation & Compliance

  • Create detailed and accurate construction reports for supervisors/managers.
  • Update logs, daily reports, and progress tracking documents.
  • Document repairs, materials used, and labor hours.
  • Maintain thorough and organized records for project documentation.
  • Follow strict project timelines and communicate delays or issues promptly.
  • Review plans and blueprints to verify work requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide updates and feedback.
  • Assist in estimating time, materials, and labor needed for tasks

Safety, Equipment & Inspections

  • Perform work in accordance with safety best practices and OSHA guidelines.
  • Take reasonable care of own health and safety at all times.
  • Conduct building inspections and identify needed repairs.
  • Inspect worksites prior to starting tasks to ensure safe conditions.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety meetings and required training.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of hazards.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or (GED) required or equivalent experience is required; additional education in Hospitality or a related field is a plus
  • Minimum of three (3) years of general carpentry experience and completion of an apprenticeship, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Proficient with power tools for cutting, shaping, and joining wood together.
  • Has a keen eye for detail, understands the importance of safety.
  • Interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Specialize in woodworking.
  • Multitasking.
  • Physical strength and communication
  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
