About the Role
This vacancy is for a Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate) in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration within the Department of Commerce.
What You'll Do
- →As a Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate), you will perform the following duties: Prepares initial budget estimates and justifications for assigned areas or programs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- →Performs budget formulation, execution and administration work involving the monitoring of obligations incurred and the actual expenditures of funds.
- →Compares obligations and expenditures to identify conditions of over or under obligation of funds.
- →Assists with reviewing and performing initial analysis of budget estimates and requests for allotments submitted by managers for accuracy of format, mathematical accuracy, adequacy of supporting narrative justification, and conformance with an organization's budgetary policy and guidelines.
- →Reviews organizational historical data and/or matches funding requests or projected costs to determine trends in spending and forecasts annual funding needs.
- →Analyzes budget estimates and narratives for reasonableness and adequacy as it relates to increases, decreases, or change in the project scope or outcome.
- →This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Budget Analyst (Recent Graduate) GS-0560-7 FPL 12 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must have completed, within the previous two-years, a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.
- ✓Exceptions are made for veterans, as defined in 5 USC 2108 , who, due to military service obligations, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during the two-year eligibility period described above.
- ✓Veterans have a full two-year period of eligibility upon their release or discharge from active duty.
- ✓The eligibility period shall not extend beyond six years from the date of academic completion.
- ✓This position is being recruited with an opportunity for non-competitive conversion eligibility to a permanent OR term position upon completion of all Recent Graduate program requirements.
- ✓Conversion is not mandatory nor guaranteed (see Other Information).
- ✓You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
- ✓You must successfully pass a background investigation.
